GURUGRAM: The Gurugram police on Monday beefed up security to prevent violence during the 'Bharat Bandh' called by several farmers' outfits and political parties on Tuesday as part of their protest against the three farm laws passed in September.
ACP (headquarters) UshaKundu said, "We have issued an advisory to all area officials concerned to take necessary precautionary measures for the Bharat Bandh call by different groups of farmers and political parties."
"The police have already tightened the security and made appropriate arrangements to prevent any untoward incident, including issuing prohibitory orders. More than 2,000 police personnel have been deployed in the sensitive locations of the district. The Gurugram police are also in touch with the adjoining districts and the state police to follow movement by the people," Kundu added.
The police officials have been asked to intensify patrolling in all the sensitive locations, especially in the border areas to prevent any untoward incident.
The Gurugram police on Monday started checking suspicious vehicles and put up barricades on the carriageway and the state's highway for vehicles entering Gurugram. A large number of security personnel, including senior police officials, were deployed in all the sensitive locations.
Meanwhile, the Gurugram police have claimed that they have identified three to four most sensitive locations in the district and security has been tightened in those locations. A senior official of the Gurugram police has visited the border areas on Monday to take stock of the preparations.
"The Gurugram police are already on high alert amid farmers' protests. The strength of the personnel has already been increased at all the connecting borders of the district. The Rapid Action Force along with extra forces have been reserved to face any untoward situations on the border locations," the ACP said. (IANS)
