Shivaji Jayanti marking the 392nd birth anniversary Of Chhatrapati Shivaji this year falls on 21 March as per the Hindu calendar and on 19 February according to the Gregorian calendar.

The Shivaji Jayanti is observed every year across the country as the birth anniversary of the great Chhatrapati Shivaji who was the great king of the Maratha Empire.

The day March holds great importance for India as on this day in the year 1630 the warrior and the founder of the Maratha Empire was born in the Shivneri Fort of Pune.

This year India celebrates the 392nd birth anniversary of renowned and powerful Indian ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who fought and won several battles.

Among all other Indian states mainly Maharashtra celebrates the occasion with various events remembering the brave and wise ruler of the country.

According to History, the state of Maharashtra ruled by Shivaji did not bow in front of anyone whether it was British or the throne of Delhi.

Shivaji Jayanti 2022 falls on Monday 21 March but the Tritiya tithi starts from 10:06 am on Sunday 20 March and ends at 08:30 am on the next day i.e. Monday. However, as per the Gregorian calendar, the Shivaji Jayanti is celebrated on 19 February.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born on the 3rd day of Krishna Paksha in Phalgun month according to the Marathi calendar so his birthday is expected to be between February and March.

Meanwhile, the government of Maharashtra is organizing events marking the 392nd birth anniversary of the legendary king Chhatrapati Shivaji. The state also observed a public holiday on this day of Shiv Jayanti.
