NEW DELHI: Shots were fired at AAP MLA Naresh Yadav’s convoy when he was on his way back from a temple.
Yadav who won from Mehrauli was in his car when the incident happened. The unidentified miscreants who fired at the convoy were in another car.
The incident happened at a red light area where Yadav’s car had stopped. He was travelling with his party workers who were closely following him in other cars.
“The miscreants too were inside a car. They fired several rounds at the cars. The MLA was saved as the bullet did not hit his car but the one behind,” the source said, reported ThePrint. “The bullet pierced through the rear windshield of that car and hit the volunteer sitting on the rear seat. He died, while another one was injured,” the source added. Yadav escaped unhurt but an AAP volunteer, identified as Ashok Mann, was killed in the incident. Another volunteer was injured.
“Volunteer Ashok Mann has passed away in the attack at AAP MLA @MLA_NareshYadav Today we have lost one of our family member. May his soul rest in peace,” a tweet from official AAP account read.
Initial investigations have revealed that the miscreants had some personal enmity with the AAP volunteer who was killed.
One person has been arrested so far.
For a fact, AAP won 62 of the 70 assembly seats in Delhi elections. BJP won 8 seats.
Election strategist Prashant Kishor and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and many others congratulated Arvind Kejriwal on the win.
Before Delhi polls, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had come up with a “28-point guarantee card” to lure voters with promises for a better Delhi. The poll promises include curriculum on patriotism; 24/7 markets and shops; pilgrimage for senior citizens; incentives for farmers and much more.
