SII CEO Poonawalla: Covovax Vaccine To Be Approved Within Next 10 To 15 Days

The SII CEO also said in the press conference on Sunday outside of a function at Bharati Vidyapeeth University that the Central Government has a lot of stock of Covisheild.

NEW DELHI: In the upcoming 10 to 15 days, according to Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla, the Covovax vaccine will be approved as a booster dosage against Covid-19. According to Poonawalla, the vaccine effectively prevents the Omicron coronavirus type.

The SII CEO said in a press conference on Sunday outside of a function at Bharati Vidyapeeth University, "Central Government has a lot of stock of Covisheild and also Covovax vaccine will obtain permission as a booster in the next 10 to 15 days."

When questioned about the Covisheild vaccine's availability and lack of supply to the state and district, Adar Poonawalla responded, "The central government has a lot of stock of Covisheild they can give it to the state. As of right now, production of Covisheild is at a halt at SII, but we can start it if needed. However, the Covovax vaccine will get approval as a booster in the next 10 to 15 days.

He continued, "Everyone was watching India during COVID-19, not just because of its healthcare system but also because it was able to assist 70 to 80 other countries in addition to providing for a sizable population. All of this was made possible by the leadership of our federal and state governments, as well as the cooperation of manufacturers, healthcare professionals, and other workers toward a common objective."

On the occasion of the anniversary of Dr. Patangrao Kadam's birth in Maharashtra, Poonawalla also received an honorarium from NCP leader Sharad Pawar and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

On the other hand, throughout an update on Monday, the Union health ministry stated that 170 new coronavirus infections had been detected in India in the previous 24 hours. The number of patients that are actively being treated in the nation has decreased to 2,371, and the number of deaths and cases that have been documented since the pandemic began in 2020 is 4,46,80,094.
