Ladakh: Engineer cum educator Sonam Wangchuk has recently made headlines for his new innovation dedicated to the Indian Army- a solar heated military tent.
The educationist has come up with this innovation after the recent clash between the Indian Army and the Chinese People's Liberation Army PLA at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh.
The solar heated military tent can accommodate 10 people and is fully portable with the weight of the tent being less than 30 kilos.
Sharing his innovation on microblogging site Twitter, Wangchuk revealed that the tent can sustain even under sub-zero temperatures as minus 14 degrees Celcius. Wangchuk further revealed that the tent is carbon neutral that will replace kerosene and will eradicate pollution, thereby protecting the local environment.

Wangchuk, who was the inspiration behind the Phunsukh Wangdu character in Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots has come up with the innovation to help the soldiers stay warm in the freezing cold of Ladakh.
Wangchuk's innovation has left netizens impressed including industrialist Anand Mahindra.
"Sonam, you're the MAN! I salute you. Your work is energising, even this late in the evening," Anand Mahindra said in a tweet.
Following the Galwan Valley clash Wangchuk called for boycotting Chinese products in response to China's aggression. His call has been received positively by the people of India.
He is the founder of Student Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) that was established in the 1988 that revolutionized the education system in the region. The whole institute is designed with solar energy and uses no fossil fuel for cooking lighting or heating.
The Ramon Magsaysay awardee was feted for his outstanding contribution to education and innovation in remote areas of Ladakh.
