Statehood Day: PM Modi Greets Residents Of Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura

NEW DELHI: On Saturday, the people of Tripura, Manipur, and Meghalaya celebrated their Statehood Days by receiving greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to PM Modi, these states have experienced progress over the past few years. He intended for the three states' populations to maintain their pace for expansion.

Greeting the people of Manipur, PM Modi said, "Statehood Day greetings to the people of Manipur. The state has been progressing on several counts during the last few years. I pray that the aspirations of the people of this state are fulfilled and Manipur keeps strengthening India's growth trajectory."

The Prime Minister afterward praised everyone who had given their time, effort, and sacrifice to this beautiful journey during his speech on Manipur's 50th Statehood Day. He referred to the Manipuri people's tenacity and cohesion in the face of the ups and downs of their history as their actual strength.

Today in Imphal, Manipur was recognized as the 50th Statehood Day. On January 21st, 1972, Manipur became a state. The celebration's chief guest was N. Biren Singh, the chief minister of Manipur. March Past was highlighted during the event by the State Police contingents. Speaking at the event, Shri Biren stated that the state government aimed to provide coverage for 100 people in each family through the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The Prime Minister sent his best wishes to the people of Meghalaya as well.

"Greetings to the people of Meghalaya on their Statehood Day. This state is known for its vibrant culture, particularly music, art and passion for sports. People from Meghalaya have excelled in diverse fields. I pray for Meghalaya's continuous progress in the years to come", a tweet read by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In another tweet, PM Modi greets the people of Tripura and said, "On their Statehood Day, best wishes to the people of Tripura. The last 5 years have been remarkable for Tripura's growth trajectory. From agriculture to industry, education to health, the state has seen a great transformation. May this trend continue in the coming times.", the tweet read by PM Modi.

On January 21, 1972, following the terms of the North Eastern Region (Reorganization) Act, of 1971, the Indian government recognised Tripura, Manipur, and Meghalaya as states.
