CHENNAI: Several districts of the state of Tamil Nadu had experienced heavy rain on Tuesday because of the Northeast monsoon. Because of the continuous heavy showers in various parts of the state, many districts have declared a holiday for schools on Wednesday.

Tuesday saw a lot of rainfall in several Tamil Nadu districts. Numerous districts have announced November 15 as a school holiday due to the persistent, intense rains that have been falling in different regions of the state. Being close to the seaside means that the city has a humid, tropical climate without any extreme seasonal variations. The majority of Chennai's annual rainfall falls between mid-October and mid-December.

The North-East monsoon's first strong and thick spell took place on Tuesday. As anticipated by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), has forecast that heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is possible in the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Due to the development of two cyclonic circulations that are gaining speed over the sea, the IMD issued an orange alert for Chengalpet and Kancheepuram, indicating that the districts may experience heavy to very severe rain on Tuesday.

The northeast monsoon began across Kerala, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Tamil Nadu. Over the next three days, Puducherry and Karaikal, among other locations in Tamil Nadu, may have light to moderate rainfall. For the next 24 hours, there can be a lot of rain in the isolated areas above Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli, according to an official.

November 14 and 15 had a good chance that isolated areas of Chennai would experience heavy rain. For the next 48 hours, The India Meteorological Department predicted partly cloudy skies and temperatures that might range from a minimum of around 24 to 25 degrees Celsius to a maximum of about 30 to 31 degrees Celsius. Flooding may result from tiny rivers and streams' water levels rising quickly due to the exceptionally high rainfall. In light of this, the city's district administration has proclaimed November 15th a holiday and ordered all schools, including those in Chennai and Tiruvallur, to remain closed.
