Tata Steel Will Continue to Pay Salaries to Families of Employees Who Died of COVID

Furthermore, if a frontline employee becomes infected while on the job and dies, the company will cover all of their children's educational expenses until graduation.

Tata Steel has revealed social security plans for workers whose families have been affected by Covid-19. On Sunday, the company revealed that under the plan, if a Covid employee dies, their family would receive their last-drawn paycheck before the employee reaches the age of 60. "Tata Steel's best-in-class social security schemes will help ensure an honourable standard of living for their families, whereby the family will get the last drawn salary till 60 years of age of the deceased employee/nominee," the company said in a statement released on social media. They will also be able to avail medical benefits and housing facilities, the statement added

Furthermore, if a frontline employee becomes infected while on the job and dies, the company will cover all of their children's educational expenses until graduation.

On social media, the company has received a lot of recognition and support for the announcement.

Tata Steel was one of the steel producers to respond to the Centre's demand for increased oxygen output in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) supplied 1,485 MT of the 4,435 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen supplied by steel plants to various parts of the world, according to official figures released by the Steel Ministry.

Yesterday, India recorded around 1,96,000 new cases of the novel coronavirus, making it the lowest cases recorded in a day in this month. 

According to data updated on Tuesday by the Union Health Ministry, the regular count of coronavirus cases in the country dropped below 2 lakh for the first time in over a month, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 2,69,48,874 and the death count to 3,07,231.

In one day, there were 1,96,427 new coronavirus infections recorded. With 3,511 deaths, the nation had its lowest death toll in 21 days.
