This 87-year-old ‘Special fan’ showers her blessing on Virat Kohli as India reach semis

Guwahati: Team India, after winning its Tuesday match against Bangladesh, secures a place in the World Cup Semi-finals. Apart from team India’s win in the match and securing a spot in the semis, the match will remain remarkable for another reason for the team and its spectators and that is this 87-year-old ‘special fan’ of team India.

She is Charulata Patel who can also be termed as the oldest fan of team India present at the stadium on Tuesday. Her cheers for her favourite team, whistling and dancing on team India’s achievements and her sporty spirit naturally caught the eyes. With camera spotting her every now and then, this old lady surely added much tempo and enthusiasm into team Blue.

As soon as the match finishes and India players come out victorious, Patel could be seen mingling well with the star players of the team Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Both Virat and Rohit sought blessings and pats from the old lady. What is more, she did not forget to leave pecks of love and blessing on the cheeks of the duo.

Charulata Patel, speaking to the media about her life and her plans to come to watch this match and meet the Indian players, says that she has been living in England since 1975 before which she used to live in Africa. Although she had got no chance to meet team India, she has always been watching their matches on TV. But this time, she could come to meet her favourite team as she is not working anymore now and is retired from her job. She feels extremely proud of her country even though she was not born in India. Her parents were from India and for that, she has that Indian blood and connection with the people of India.

Seeing Kohli sitting beside her and exchanging some warm words and smiles and Patel showering her love on her was the most touching and warmest moment of the day. with this love and blessing being loaded now, team India is hoped to shine with extraordinary feats in the semis.
