Union Cabinet Approves PLB For Non-Gazetted Railway Employees Equivalent To 78 Days' Wage

The productivity-linked bonus (PLB) is paid to eligible railway employees right before the start of the festive season in October.

New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet approved the productivity-linked bonus in favour of non-gazetted Indian Railways employees for the year 2020-21. However, this scheme excludes RPF/RPSF personnel. The PLB amounts to 78 days' wage of the railway employees.

Speaking to the media, Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed about the key decisions that were taken by the Union Cabinet and added that the approval of PLB would benefit at least 11.56 lakh employees of Indian Railways.

As per sources, the Railways Ministry had submitted a proposal to the Union Cabinet in regards to the PLB that was to be paid to eligible non-gazetted employees of the Indian Railways. The proposal was then approved by the Union Cabinet. The PLB that railways employees will receive this year amounts to 78 days' wages.

The productivity-linked bonus (PLB) is paid to eligible non-gazetted Indian Railway employees every year right before the start of the festive season in October.

In 2020, about 11.58 Indian Railway employees received a bonus that was equal to 78 days' wages after the Union Cabinet approved the payment of productivity and non-productivity linked bonus to be made to about 30 lakhs employees working under the central government.
