Mumbai: Union minister of State for Social Justice and the man behind the famous slogan 'Go Corona Go', Ramdas Athawale has tested positive for coronavirus. The Union Minister was admitted to a private hospital in South Mumbai. An aide confirmed that the minister is also a diabetic.
He shared the news on Twitter.
The Republican Party of India (A) leader got famous when his 'Go Corona Go' chant became a national sensation. He gave the slogan back in February when India's COVID tally was not bad in the country. Athawale said, "At that time people were saying, will this make corona go away? Now we are seeing this slogan all across the world."
A video went viral in February this year, where Athawale along with Chinese diplomat and Buddhist monks was seen chanting "Go corona, go corona" at a prayer meeting to stop the spread of COVID 19 in China.
In the Narendra Modi-led ministry, 60-years-old Athawale is the Minister of State for Social Justice.
Earlier this week, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, too, had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He was admitted to Breach Candy hospital in South Mumbai.
