NEW DELHI: On the Delhi Meerut Expressway on Tuesday morning, a school bus travelling in the other direction struck an incoming vehicle head-on, resulting in at least six fatalities.
Reports state that the school bus was empty and was approaching Ghazipur from the wrong side of the road after filling up with CNG in Delhi. However, the passengers in the vehicle were travelling from Meerut to Gurgaon.
Both were travelling at high speeds when they collided, causing two injuries and six instant deaths. After the event, the bus driver was apprehended because he was solely to blame.
According to them, the injured have been taken into a hospital for treatment. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, expressed his sorrow over the catastrophe and urged authorities to see to it that the injured were treated properly.
While speaking to the media, DCP Dehat Shubham Patel said, “On the Delhi-Meerut Motorway, a TUV carrying eight people was struck by a school bus that was travelling in the opposite direction at 6:04 in the morning. Six of the eight persons died, while two more were hospitalised with critical injuries. The driver has been detained, is being interrogated, and strict portions of the FIR are being used.”
On the other hand, heavy rainfall and cloudbursts have caused a slew of flash floods and landslides in the region of north India.
According to estimates, 17 people have died as a result of natural disasters in the Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and J&K hills, while five deaths have so far been reported in the UP, Punjab, and Rajasthan plains.
In other districts, including Mandi, Kangra, Chamba, and Kullu, the floods have also harmed buildings, buses, bridges, and roads.
