In a shocking incident of caste-based violence in Uttar Pradesh, a teen boy from the Dalit community was physically assaulted and forced to lick the feet of a man.
The video of the incident was uploaded on the internet and attracted the attention of the social media users with many demanding the arrest of the accused persons.
The Dalit boy has been identified as a class 10 student hailing from the Jagatpur town in Unchahar tehsil of UP's Rae Bareli district.
In the video clip that surfaced on social media, the boy was seen beaten up by some youths and forced to touch the feet of a man with his tongue.
On Tuesday 19 April, officials said that after the video went viral on social media, police filed a case and following an investigation 8 people are taken into police custody.
Police informed that earlier this week on 10 April, the Dalit teen was taken to the Ramlila Maidan by one of his friends named Sivam who came to his home.
He was later forced to get inside a car and taken to Salon road from where he was again taken to a garden by some other youths.
According to officials, the accused persons started beating the boy brutally with sticks and wires and later forced him to lick the feet of one of the accused.
Moreover, they also threatened him not to say anything about the incident to anyone but the family members of the boy saw injuries on his body when he returned and questioned him.
The boy narrated the incident to his mother who also came across the viral video on the internet and later she along with her son went to the Kotwali Police Station and filed a complaint.
Police investigated the matter and also examined the authenticity of the viral video where everything is recorded how the boy was tortured and forced to lick the feet of a man.
In the matter, an FIR under relevant sections has been registered and a total of 8 accused persons have been detained and sent to Dalmau CO (circle office).
