Varanasi: In a time when people are getting married hastily even during a pandemic, a groom had to return home without his bride as he could not find the bride's house. A bridegroom along with his 'baraat' (marriage procession) from Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh went to Mau for his wedding, which was scheduled on December 10. However, the groom had to return home without his to-be wife as the address of the bride was missing. The whereabouts of the bride were also unknown.

Even in the wintry chilli nights, the groom and his family and friends, who came in his marriage procession searched all the streets in Mau, in search of the bride's family. However, after searching for hours, the angry groom along with his 'baraat' went back home.

The groom's family, who reside in Kanshi Ram Colony of Kotwali area in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, vented out their anger on the woman who brought the 'Rishta' (marriage proposal) to them. The woman played the role of the mediator in the marriage. The groom's family held the woman hostage on Saturday night. A high-pitched drama was created in the Kotwali police station on Saturday night.

Shamsher Yadav, the senior sub-inspector of Kotwali police station said that the family of the groom has levelled serious allegations against the woman, who brought the marriage proposal to them. The police from Kotwali police station gave both the parties an opportunity to resolve their dispute. Later on Saturday night, the matter was resolved as the groom's family agreed not to lodge an FIR against the woman who brought the marriage proposal to them.

The groom, however, was earlier married to a woman from Bihar's Samastipur, four years ago. But his wife went to her parental home a few months after the marriage and never returned.

However, the reason behind not finding the bride's place is still unknown.
