NEW DELHI: The applicants for the UPSC civil services exams have gathered once more to voice their concerns for more opportunities to take the exam. The COVID pandemic, according to the pupils, has made it difficult for them to study and prepare. Numerous students who have missed out on the UPSC CSE exam for the past two years are also asking for an age reduction for the UPSC exam, arguing that they have lost two crucial years as a result of the Covid-19 wave in India.

It should be mentioned that thousands of applicants take the UPSC exams each year in the nation, and many of them attempt the Civil Services examinations more than once. One of the most prestigious and demanding exams is the Civil Services Examination (CSE), which is administered yearly by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The Prelims, Mains, and Personal Interview rounds make up the UPSC CSE test.

The Supreme Court has also received a petition from candidates asking for an additional effort or chance. Ahead of the UPSC civil services main examination, due to COVID-19, some candidates were unable to participate. The Supreme Court asked the Centre to take this into consideration earlier in March. However, the Centre responded by telling the Supreme Court, which is the highest court, that further attempts for these candidates are "not possible."

The candidates have now made the decision to submit a fresh appeal to the Supreme Court asking for a second chance and an age relaxation.

Every year, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) holds Civil Services Examinations to find exceptional individuals for a variety of high-profile government positions. Only a small number of students ever pass it each year, and it has long been regarded as one of, if not the most challenging tests in India. In actuality, only 13,090 of the 11.52 lakh applicants who took the UPSC exam in 2022 passed the preliminary stage, and just 2,529 students passed the final exams.
