Uttar Pradesh: PM Narendra Modi Inaugurates Bundelkhand Expressway

This expressway will connect from Kudrail village in the Agra- Lucknow expressway in the Etawah district and will be ending in Gonda village on NH 35 in the Chitrakoot district.

NEW DELHI: Prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bundelkhand expressway today in Kudrail village, in the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. The expressway is about 296.07 KM and connects Kudrail village in the Etawah district to Gonda village in the Chitrakoot district.

The expressway is a four-way lane that has been constructed on a budget of Rs. 14,850 crores. This expressway will connect from Kudrail village in the Agra- Lucknow expressway in the Etawah district and will be ending in Gonda village on NH 35 in the Chitrakoot district. The expressway will cover 7 districts in Uttar Pradesh. They are- Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda and Chitrakoot.

About the Bundelkhand expressway

The work started with the laying of the foundation stone by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 29 February 2020. Though this project was launched in the year 2017 of April by the chief minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath and the construction was done by Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA). The expressway is said to boost the effect of tourism to the Chitrakoot dam as well as develop the connectivity and the industrial development of the region.

As per the officials, it has been told to ANI that the central government has majorly focused on connectivity and infrastructure. Although, a praiseworthy point is that the expressway was initially targeted to complete its work by January 14, 2023, but the work is now completed earlier in about 28 months.

UP already has the Yamuna expressway that has made the traffic run quite smoothly and effectively connecting from Delhi NCR, in Noida till Agra in Uttar Pradesh. And now with this newly constructed Bundelkhand expressway, the traffic will get much mobilized connecting it from Lucknow- Agra expressway near Etawah.

Some interesting and significant features of the new expressway

Another important step that has been taken is that 7 lakh trees will be planted along the expressway. The Bundelkhand expressway is covering 7 major rivers that will flow beneath it. People would drive through the Ken river, Betwa river, Yamuna river, Bagen river, Chandrawal river, Birma river and the Sengar river.

The expressway is a 4-way lane, which can also be stretched to 6 lanes with a 3.75-meter wide service lane on one of the sides. The expressway is so beautifully constructed that it has got enormous features that people would love while driving along with. The expressway has got 18 big bridges, 4 rail bridges and 286 small bridges. Along with there will be 6 toll plazas that will be present. 7 ramp plazas will also be available in the entire expressway. The expressway has got another interesting feature that will provide the provision for rainwater harvesting. Again the expressway will pass through 9 flyovers, and 224 underpasses.

Important project to be rolled out

A very important step is being planned out by the government and that will also add a beneficial achievement in the economic sector of the region is the construction of two industrial corridors along the expressway in the Banda and Jalaun districts, of which the construction has been said to have started.
