MUMBAI: The Mumbai to Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express hit a cattle herd again on Saturday. This incident occurred near the Atul station of Gujarat in the morning and delayed the train by 20 minutes in its arrival time at the destination Gandhinagar.
As per the sources in the railways, the accident took place at about 8.20 AM on Saturday morning. The front panel on the nose of the first coach of the Vande Bharat Express was damaged in the accident. It also caused dents in the underside equipment of the first coach of the train. However since there was no damage to any major systems, the train could continue with the trip after a temporary delay. The train had to stop for around 20 minutes after the accident before resuming its journey towards Gandhinagar.
"The train did not suffer any operational damage. It resumed further journey in 20 minutes," mentioned Sumit Thakur, the Chief Public Relations Officer of the Western Railway. He added that there were no injuries and all passengers arrived completely safely.
This is the third time when the train encountered animal herds on its tracks, which caused damages to the train. On October 6 domestic buffaloes died after being hit by this train.This accident took place between Vatva and Maninagar stations in the state of Gujarat. The train was headed for Gandhinagar to Mumbai during the accident. The nose panel was replaced overnight in order for the train to continue its services.
The second incident happened on the very next day. The Vande Bharat Express reportedly hit a cow near Anand in Gujarat on October 7. This time, the train was traveling from the Gandhinagar station and heading towards Mumbai.
The Vande Bharat trains are indigenously designed and manufactured in India to create a new revolution in luxurious traveling between important cities of the country.
