PATNA: In a shocking video that is currently being circulated on social media has provoked outrage among the netizens.
The video shows a group of men purportedly sexually harassing a schoolgirl in Bihar's Gaya district.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case after the footage went viral on social media.
Police superintendent Aditya Kumar said he has ordered identification of the men.
In the video, the men were purportedly seen assaulting, calling themselves social reformers, and sexually harassing the girl after they found her with a friend, who was also assaulted.
Notably, the entire act was recorded and then uploaded on social media.
It is to be mentioned that the accused men also pulled the girl's dupatta, hair and kept touching her inappropriately.
Reportedly, despite the girl's protests, the harassment... continued. When the victim tried to escape from the spot, the men threatened to kill her friend, who was held hostage at gunpoint.
In 2020, a 20-year-old girl was allegedly set ablaze after she resisted sexual harassment in Bihar.
The heinous crime took place in Rasoolpur village under Desari police station of Vaishali district in Bihar on October 30.
According to reports, the victim was allegedly dragged by three persons including the father of the accused. All three accused set the girl on fire after pouring kerosene on her.
On the other hand, earlier on February 22, a fraction of the infamous Gulabi Gang- Gulabi Mahila Uthan Samiti has formed teams in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba district that will identify those committing crimes against women and hand them over to police.
Currently, it has three factions -- one headed by Sampat Pal in Banda, and the others by Suman Singh Chauhan in Mahoba and Asha Nigam in Kanpur.
Chauhan, who heads the Gulabi Mahila Uthan Samiti, said the teams will try to stop crime against girls and women in the vicinity of schools, colleges, temples and markets, and at homes.
