Guwahati: After Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, another celebrity 'it' couple, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, has come forward to assure their help to the flood-affected people in the country.

Virat Kohli, the Indian cricket team captain, took to his official Twitter handle to inform his fans and followers about the couple's generous work. Virat also urged fans to come forward and help people to help the flood victims in any which way they can.

"While we continue to pray for the people in Assam and Bihar, Anushka and I have also pledged to help those in need by supporting these three organizations that have been doing credible work in flood relief and welfare. If this resonates with you, please reach out to support these states through these organizations," Virat Kohli's statement read.

This is not the only time that the power couple has donated towards a charitable cause. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma had earlier donated an undisclosed amount to the PM CARES and the Maharastra CM relief fund to help the nation fight the coronavirus pandemic.

Virat Kohli will soon be seen on the cricket field with the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) making a comeback in the coming months in the UAE.

Earlier in the week, former 'Awesome Assam' brand ambassador and her rocker hubby had encouraged their fans to make donations towards the flood relief efforts.

"While we are all still dealing with the effects of the global pandemic, the Indian state of Assam has been grappling with another major crisis. It has been devastated by floods triggered by heavy monsoon showers affecting the lives of millions. The impact on life and land/property is unimaginable. The rapidly rising water level has also flooded the Kaziranga National Park, one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in the world," wrote Priyanka in a tweet, bringing attention to the recurring problem of floods in the state.

Noted Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has also come forward to help the organizations carrying out relief ops in Bangladesh and the Northeast Indian region.
