Webinar on World Human Rights Day

NEW DELHI: St. Thomas' College of Law (STCL), Gr. Noida organised a webinar on Wednesday on the eve of World Human Rights Day on the theme- Stand Up for Human Rights: The Need of Global solidarity.

The webinar was presided and addressed by Supreme Court Justice Indira Banerjee, justice Kotiswer Singh, CJI of Gauhati High Court was the guest of honour. & other legal luminaries Sneha Kalita, Adv. Supreme Court & Dr KS Bhati, Adv. Advisor to Saint Thomas Law College.

Justice Indira Banerjee, Judge Supreme Court - commenced her address saying that it gives her immense pleasure to participate in the webinar for a special reason, as she used to appear as lawyer for North India Churches in Calcutta, when Bishop Raju headed the Church of North India. She had the opportunity to start her career with blessing of the Almighty and others who were providing their service in those churches.

Justice Banerjee while elucidating about the protection of human rights sated that domestic violence, sexual harassment, exploitation, and trafficking strikes the root of human rights of women and it has to be checked at collective level, it cannot be tackled by Nation States alone and it has to be tackled with international Cooperation with spirit of human Solidarity.

Later, Justice Indira Banerjee discussed about the challenges posed by COVID-19 regarding Human Rights violations, stated a press release.
