MUMBAI: Lata Mangeshkar, the legendary singer holding a Guinness world record, died on February 6th at the age of 92. Last month, the legendary singer was hospitalized after contracting COVID-19 and being diagnosed with pneumonia.

In a nostalgic interview with a media house, Lataji confessed that in 1963, someone attempted to poison her slowly. She went on to say that the Mangeshkars don't like to talk about it because it was such a difficult time in their lives.

In 1963, at the height of her career, she began to feel weak and could barely get out of bed, finally to the point where she couldn't move on her own.

It was confirmed by the doctors that she had been poisoned over time, and she needed three months to recover. She claimed that Dr Kapoor's treatment and her own willpower helped her get through this difficult time. Many rumours circulated at the time claiming that she had lost her voice, but she stressed that no doctor had advised her that she would never be able to sing again.

She was ready to sing again after three months of bed rest, and composer Hemant Kumar was the first to work with her. He apparently sought Lataji's mother's approval first, promising her that he would not harm her.

When asked if she and her family were able to track down the individual who attempted to poison her, Lataji said yes, but no action was taken since they lacked proof.

She has performed many notable songs throughout the course of her seven-decade career, including 'Ajeeb dastan hai ye,' 'Pyar kiya to darna kya,' 'Neela asman so gaya,' and 'Tere Liye.'
