Zee News' Rohit Ranjan Nabbed For Airing Misleading Video of Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: Rohit Ranjan, a Zee TV News Anchor, was arrested on Tuesday from his home in Ghaziabad, days after the channel ran a misleading video of Rahul Gandhi.

Reportedly, the video tarnished Rahul Gandhi's image as it showed the Congress leader referring to the accused in Udaipur killing as children.

However, Ranjan had earlier apologized for the same.

Meanwhile, a video showed Chhattisgarh police trying to apprehend the anchor amid loud argument and jostling as Ghaziabad cops also stepped in to take the anchor away.

Eventually, the Ghaziabad arrested him.

"Chhatisgarh police is outside my home here to arrest me without informing the local police, is this legally right?" he tweeted tagging Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, SSP Ghaziabad, and ADG Zone Lucknow.

Replying to Ranjan's tweet, Raipur Police said, "There is no such rule to inform. Still, now they are informed. Police team has shown you the court's warrant of arrest. You should in fact cooperate, join in the investigation and put your defence in court."

Several cases were filed against Ranjan in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh after he played Gandhi's video on his show and following this BJP leaders like Rajyavardhan Rathore, Subrat Pathak, have also been named in the FIR for sharing the same.
