CALIFORNIA: The popular messaging application from Meta, WhatsApp has decided to roll out a new feature. It allows the users to roll back their 'delete' action for messages
Accidental delete is a term given to the action of selecting the 'delete from me' option on a message instead of the usually intended 'delete from everyone' option. This often caused a lot of problems and embarrassment among the users of the messaging application from time to time.
And to prevent an accidental delete incident, the company has decided to roll out a new feature. This will make it possible for the users to undo their 'delete from me' action. Users will be given a five-second window after the click on the 'delete from me' action. Within this time period, the users can select the 'undo delete for me' option to roll back their action and subsequently delete it for all other members participating in the chat.
According to the company, this feature has been made available to all users across Android and iPhone users. The announcement came from the official handle of the popular microblogging site Twitter. ""Delete for Me." We've all been there, but now you can UNDO when you accidentally delete a message for you that you meant to delete for everyone!" they tweeted.
According to reports, some of the registered Beta Testers got a taste of this feature since August this year on both Androids and iPhones. The brand had also increased the time frame for possible deletion of wrongly sent messages to more than 48 hours. Before that, the time limit was one hour eight minutes and 16 seconds.
WhatsApp introduced several other privacy features for the users of the application. Some of them include who can see when a user is online and existing groups without the knowledge of other group members. Use of view once message also prevents any unsolicited sharing or taking of screenshots.
