AASKSU submits memorandum to CM

Dibrugarh Aug 25: The District Committee of All Assam Sonowal Kachari Students’ Union (AASKSU) submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal  for taking necessary steps regarding the incorporated in the said memorandum.  As enlisted in the memo, District AASKSU members have demanded the shutting down of foreign liquor shops and the country liquor warehouses that have been set up at Barbaruah.

Secondly, they have pressed for immediate arrest of the accused that are alleged to have been involved in the suicide of Dharma Rai, a local resident of tiduroi under Barbaruah Police Station. As stated in an earlier memorandum submitted to CM on July 21, the local residents of tiduroi had expressed their resentment over the setting up of foreign liquor shops and had given a memorandum to DC Laya Madduri . As a result the liquor shop owners Lohit Gogoi and Chiranjan Gogoi with Dipak Gogoi, threatened Dharma Rai who is the husband of Dipali Rai , to chose the path of suicide. On August 3, a complaint was lodged against the three persons but till date no action has been taken against the same. The AASKSU District President and General Secretary, Santanu Sonowal and Ritupar Baruah, respectively, through the memorandum has urged  for  the required compensation  for the family of late Dharma Rai at the earliest and has further appealed to execute the process of fulfilment of the said demands.
