Itagar, July 6: The Aruchal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) on Thursday said inbuilt system errors have come in the way of registration for goods and services tax (GST) in the state.

ACCI general secretary Tarh chung said Prime Minister rendra Modi believes the GST he launched along with President Prab Mukherjee on June 30 midnight would seek to stop black money and corruption and simplify the multi-layered tax system in the country.

“But there are practical issues because of inbuilt sgs in the system,” he said, adding portal error prevented most of the 1,700 applications submitted by the state’s tax and excise commissioner from being registered.

“One of the reasons cited was multiple use of same PAN card by the proprietor. But a person cannot have two PAN cards,” he said.

None of the 300 applications submitted to the harlagun zone-I tax and excise authority has been registered yet, chung claimed. “The commissioner’s office staffs, including officers trained in GST, has not replied to queries,” he said.

Most of the whole sellers, dealers and distributors capable of paying higher tax are yet to be registered, the ACCI general secretary said. If the GST system is easy to operate, why such hurdles that could make the Centre lose big in tax, he asked. chung urged the state government to take up the matter with the Centre for immediate rectification. However, ACCI chief advisor Pradeep Kumar said the glitches faced in implementing GST were temporary.
