D El Ed results: Deborah Marak seeks time from teachers

SHILLONG, Nov 1: Two days after the Diploma in Elementary Education (D El Ed) trainee batch 2013, had threatened to march towards the Main Secretariat building if NIOS does not announce fresh result within the third week of November, Education (Elementary) Minister Deborah C Marak today sought cooperation from the teachers in rectifying the matter.

He stated that there are problems in the education department. The two week deadline set by the D.El.Ed trainee batch 2013 for announcement of results by tiol Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) had ended on October 30.

Speaking to reporters here today, Marak said, “The agitating trainee teachers had met me recently and I had told them to cooperate with me since I’m very new to this department and I had told them that the government will examine the matter thoroughly.”

Stating that the education department is a very sensitive department, she said, “Because of this I should not talk more.”

Informing that she had summoned D.P. Wahlang, Commissioner & Secretary, Education department to apprise her on the matter, she said, “I had asked him on what is happening and why the trainee teachers are complaining about this then he had admitted that it was a genuine problem what the teachers are asking for and the department is seriously looking into it.”

She said that the aggrieved teachers should wait for some time and let the officials concern finish their examition.

Revealing that there are problems inside the education department she said, “We need to streamline the department slowly and further there are lots of work which has to be done in this department.”
