Four killed, two injured in Duliajan road mishap

DULIAJAN, May 16: A road accident took place on Sunday night at tun Ali under Tengakhat police station between a Maruti van and a 407 mini truck where four persons lost their lives on the spot and two were seriously injured.

The deceased have been identified as Shiva Urang (27), Mohan Urang (30), Suraj Urang (25) and Bhanu Toppo (40), all residents of Tengakhat Bamunikuria of Telpani Panchyat under Tengakhat police station and the injured persons have been identified as Nirmal Urang (25) and Ranjit Toppo (28), residents of the same place.

According to sources, Shiva, Mohan, Suraj, Bhanu, Niraml and Ranjit were returning from a marriage function in their silver colored Maruti van (AS06-F-0147) from Lahowal to Tengakhat. Near tun Ali, a 407 mini truck (AS01-GC-4703) coming from the opposite direction had a head-on collision with the Maruti van and the four youths died on the spot and two received serious injuries.

After the incident, the driver of the mini truck fled from the scene. Police immediately sent the two injured persons to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh for better treatment and on Monday morning the bodies were sent to AMCH, Dibrugarh for post mortem. Both the damaged vehicles were carried to the police station.
