Silchar, Nov 17: On the concluding day of the 7th Indo-Bangladesh joint exercise ‘Sampriti 2017’ held at Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School, Vairengte, Mizoram, Major General M S Ghura of the Indian Army and Major General Md. Moshfequr Rahman of Bangladesh Army said the exercise would strengthen and broaden cooperation between the armies of both the countries. This would also help in working together in a counter insurgency and counter terrorism environment under the UN mandate. The Sentinel which was a witness to the concluding ceremony and was later on briefed by the Major Generals of both the armies could understand the importance of such joint exercise.
It was a thrilling experience to watch the exercise conducted under the aegis of the Red Horns Division of Gujraj Corps with its two distinct components which included command post exercise (CPX) and field training exercise (FTX). Troops from 38 East Bengal Regiment of Bangladesh Army and Mahar Regiment of Indian Army took part in the exercise. While command post exercise was conducted recently at Joint Training Node at Umroi, Meghalaya, for 6 days, field training exercise was conducted at CIJW School for 13 days.
CPX focused on planning of counter terrorist operations and FTX on company / platoon level tactical drills. A tactical exercise was also conducted during the FTX. Both the contingents displayed great enthusiasm and professiolism in their exercises and it was a great learning experience for them. Both the troops have learnt about each other’s organization and best practices. Joint exercises between armies across the world are becoming an important aspect of bilateral relations. Sampriti has no doubt played a significant role to build trust and confidence between both the armies.
