MANGALDAI, April 29: Mangaldai Parliamentarian Ramen Deka has warned LPG dealers of stringent action if any beneficiary of the centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) files written complaint before him against the gas agency of charging any money for LPG connection. “If I receive any written complaint from a beneficiary against an LPG distributor of demanding money from him for new LPG connection under Prime Minister’s Ujjala scheme, I will cancel the license of the LPG dealer. If I can’t do that I will leave politics,” said the seniormost BJP leader-cum-parliamentarian Ramen Deka while taking part as the chief guest in the celebration of Gram Swaraj Divas, jointly organized by DRDA, Darrang and the APDCL, Mangaldai Circle on Saturday at Mangaldai Natya Mandir.
Alleging rampant corruption in selection of beneficiaries for centrally sponsored schemes, including rural dwelling houses and rural electrification during the tenure of the earlier Congress government, parliamentarian Ramen Deka claimed the situation to have changed since the BJP government took charge and urged people of changing their mindset and stop offering bribe for any official work. He also dwelt at length about the effective implementation of different centrally sponsored schemes in Darrang district, including PMUY and PM Gram Sadak Yojana.
“Nearly 7,000 poor families have received new gas connection free of cost and more than 500 km of road length under Darrang and Udalguri district have been sanctioned under PMGSY and sanctioning of roads under PMGSY can be done by none other than the MP of the constituency concerned,” he said.
Later the parliamentarian and other guests, including Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman ceremonially distributed certificates to selected beneficiaries of new electricity connection under Saubhagya scheme and PMAY-G
