Jorhat, May 6: Few days after the eviction drive conducted by Jorhat district administration at Tiru Hills Reserve Forest near the Rongham village along the inter-State border of Assam and galand in Jorhat district, State Border Areas Development Minister Girindra Mallik on Wednesday visited the areas to take stock of the situation.

During interaction with the local people, Mallik admitted that the encroachers from bordering Mokokchung district of galand tried to occupy Assam’s land illegally which was foiled by the administration few days ago.

In response to the request of the villagers of Rongkham, the minster said that he would fulfil the need of roads and infrastructure for providing electricity to such areas which are located in far off from the district headquarter.

The locals also demanded of him to take immediate initiatives to ensure development. Several local people said that even the security personnel could not do their assigned duties properly due to poor infrastructure in the out-posts, which are yet to be equipped with necessary telephone facilities, regular electricity, vehicle facilities and facilities for accommodation.

However, after the interaction with the locals and administrative officials, minister Mallik said that he would place all these issues before the Chief Minister for solution to the problems of the people.
