New administrative building of Sadar Hills-ADC iugurated

Imphal, July 19: The Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Gaikhangam, today iugurated the new Administrative Building of the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council at Kangpokpi, which is one of the six Autonomous District Councils in the state. The new Administrative Building was constructed with a cost of 4.79 crore under the Special Central Assistance, SCA. Construction of the new building started in 2012 by the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation, MTDC, as the implementing agency. The building was completed in 2015.

The iuguration function was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam as Chief Guest.

Speaking at the function, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that in spite of all the disturbing elements, the Autonomous District Councils in the state, including the Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, are functioning smoothly, and this is only due to the co-operation of the people and the sincere and hard work of the ADC members. Gaikhangam appreciated the ADC members and the people of the area at large for maintaining a secured, protective and peaceful atmosphere amongst the different communities settling in the area. He also stressed the need to have criss-cross love and understanding amongst the different communities to bring peaceful co-existence, which is much required for any form of development. The Deputy CM further pointed out that though there have been rumours that the present government is neglecting the hills, the government has done remarkable works for the development of the hill people in almost in every sector, be it in education, sports, healthcare and other essential services, and that there has been certain positive changes during the last 10 years, which the people could clearly notice. He appealed the people not to believe in such rumours in future. The Deputy CM also assured for more developments in the hill areas in the days to come.

Other dignitaries present were Haokgholal Hangshing, Chairman, Sadar Hills –ADC, Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman, Sadar Hills- ADC. The highlight of today’s function was the performance of different cultural dances by the ga, Kuki and Nepali cultural troupes. This was stated in a press release.
