No one at Mawkasain suffering from blindness!

SHILLONG, May 26:  The Bansara Eye Care along with St Edmund’s College’s Social Work Department on Friday announced that Mawkasain village in East Khasi Hills is free from diseases leading to blindness as part of the Avoidable Blindness Free Village Declaration Day.

Speaking at the function as Chief Guest, KHADC CEM P N Syiem said, “It is a proud achievement for the village as earlier it was declared as an open defecation-free village now it has added another success by being med as a village free from blindness diseases.”

“As a local representative of the constituency I would like to express my appreciation to Bansara Eye Care for taking an initiative to eradicate the sickness concerning eye sight.”

He further said it is not easy to locate those people having problem with eyesight and take them to Shillong for treatment.

The KHADC Chief has also lauded the steps taken by the students in taking up the issue seriously.

In a function held at Seng Khasi Hall Mawsynram, Professor Randolph Langstieh in his speech lauded the efforts put in by Bansara Eye Care in identifying and locating those residents having issue with eyesight.

The headman of Mawkasain village, B Dewsaw has expressed his gratitude towards Bansara Eye Care and St Edmund’s College, Social Work Department for taking the initiative by providing free health care to those people with poor eyesight.
