SILCHAR, April 9: Rajdeep Goala, Congress candidate of Lakhipur constituency, is sure of an empathic win at the assembly elections. Exuding confidence, he said, “I am sure of winning and the margin will be between 20,000 and 30,000 votes. I have full faith in the people of my constituency.” He also said that votes from tribals, Manipuris, Muslims, Bengalis, Hindi speaking people, tea garden workers will favour him and so his prospect at the hustings is bright. “The first time voters have also cast their vote in favour of Congress and so there is every possibility of my success”, he added.
Goala said the increase in the number of voters in comparison to the last by-election of 2014 has shown definite swing towards him. He added that despite all oppositions, Tarun Gogoi will form the government. A confident Rajdeep Goala also added that out of the 15 assembly seats of Barak Valley, 10 to 12 will be won by Congress. “There is no powerful opposition to challenge him in this constituency. However, I am apprehensive about BJP and take this party as a formidable rival,” he added. He praised the civil administration, security forces, state and central and poll officials and workers of all levels for conducting the election on April 4 peacefully and fairly. The total number of voters in Lakhipur constituency is 1, 43,201. But, these calculations and speculations might prove wrong if on May 19, the results show a different picture. Political parties are keeping an observant eye on their opposition parties and candidates and are busy in finding loopholes in each other’s organization.
