Rubber plantation to be re-established soon

SHILLONG, Oct 28: Grace Mary Kharpuri Executive Member in-charge Forest today stated that in a meeting held on October 4, the Rubber Board had informed that it cannot provide the fund for the plantation of 223 hectares at Aradonga but has offer the subsidy for only ten hectares.

Replying to a query raised by D Sumer during the second day of the KHADC winter session here on Wednesday, Kharpuri said, “Since the Council is facing fincial problems at the moment we are uble to re-establish the plantation in the area.” She also said that the ten hectares will not go wasted since the work is under way and soon they will re-establish the plantation by Rubber Plantation.

“For 10 hectares we will be getting 500 saplings per hectare and we hope that soon we will be able to re-establish the same,” she said.
