Itagar, Feb 5: Pakke-Kessang MLA Biyuram Wahge on Sunday directed officials and contractors to carry out construction work of the 62-km Pakke-Seijosa-Itakhola road at the earliest for the greater interest of the people of the area. This road in Pakke Kesang constituency will connect Itakhola in Assam with Sagalee-Seppa-Neichepu NH13.
Wahge, while inspecting the ongoing construction of the North East Council (NEC) road in Seijosa Circle along with officials and PRI members, asked PRL-Gepung (JV), the firm concerned, to complete the road at the earliest. The work was allotted to the firm in April last through tiol bidding but the work started in October due to litigation.
Wahge, along with PWD Pakke-Kessang Division’s EE bam Takar and contractors, also visited the ongoing work from Seijosa Check Gate to Goloso covering an  8-km stretch. He discussed the upgrading and road alignment with the contractors and requested the PRI members to check the work progress and resolve any hindrance during the road construction with the help of officials and administration.
Wahge also directed the executing firm not to compromise with the quality of construction work. “The work should not stop and should be completed within the stipulated period so that the connectivity problem between Seijosa and Pakke-kessang is solved,” he said. Takar said that upgrading of the road, which was approved by NEC in 2013-14 with an estimated cost of Rs 166.16-crore and sanctioned in 2015-16, was delayed due to litigation. “But the work is in full progress now. The forest clearance has been completed up to 20 km for now. We hope the work will go smoothly. I appeal to the local public to cooperate for the smooth construction of work,” he said.
