Yogpurush staged at Baan Theatre

Tezpur, July 23: Srimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, Gujarat, in association with Rotary Club of Tezpur, staged the playYogpurush Mahatma ke Mahatma on Saturday at Baan Theatre, Tezpur.

The main purpose of the play is to spread Shri Rajchandraji’s values of ahimsa and satya that shaped Gandhiji’s beliefs, and supports the cause of a new 200-bedded charity hospital in South Gujarat. Commemorating 150 years of Shrimad Rajchandraji, Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur presents a theatre production portraying the profound relationship between Mahatma Gandhi and his mentor which demonstrate a spiritual relationship that transformed Mohandas into the Mahatma. The play will be performed all over India as well as overseas in Australia, USA, UAE, Oman, Kenya, Cada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and South Africa.

Winner of several awards, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the best play, and Transmedia Awards for the Best Play, Best Direction and Best Actor in supporting role, Yugpurush is running successfully in Hindi, Marathi, Kanda, Gujarati and Bengali. It will soon release in English and Tamil. The play is directed by acclaimed director Rajesh Joshi of Code Mantra fame, scripted by well-known playwright Uttam Gada of Maharathi fame. The music direction is by popular composer duo Sachin- Jigar.

Attending the play show, Rajiv Sarma, veteran stage actor of Tezpur, said the actor who played the role of the great saint was brillant. “It is so enlightening to see outstanding performance in the field of direction and technical side of the play,” he added.
