A 4.4 magnitude earthquake jolts Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur

The tremor was felt at around 1.13 AM on Tuesday.

Guwahati: An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale shook parts of Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur along with the neighbouring country Bangladesh in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

The tremor was felt at 1.13 AM on Tuesday, at a depth of 10 KM. The epicentre of the earthquake was at Nongstoin, Meghalaya. Nongstoin is 81 KM from Guwahati.

No casualty or loss of property has been reported.

Apart from the people at the epicentre, the 30-seconds long jolt was felt by the people in Shillong, Mairang in Manipur, and Guwahati.

The National Centre for Seismology informed about the tremor through a tweet.

"Earthquake of Magnitude:4.4, Occurred on 03-11-2020, 01:13:17 IST, Lat: 25.69 & Long: 91.15, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, India".

The northeastern region has been experiencing frequent tremors since May-June this year.
