GUWAHATI: 1 tonne of COVID-19 medical supplies for Arunachal reach Guwahati via Delhi. Pema Khandu, CM of Arunachal Pradesh tweeted on this saying, "Protective equipments to fight #COVID19 continue to pour in. Nearly 1 tonne of medical supplies consisting of PPEs, VTM kits & medicines for Arunachal today reached Guwahati via #AirIndia cargo flight from Delhi. A testimony to relentless effort by the centre to keep us all safe."
Arunachal Pradesh became the sixth State among the Northeast States to have set up a COVID-19 testing centre at the Tomo Riba Institute of Medical Health & Science (TRIHMS), here on Thursday.
The much-needed virology lab for COVID-19 testing lab has been installed within a record time of four weeks with a capacity of testing hundred samples per day in the initial stage.
Minister of Health & Family Welfare Alo Libang along with the heads of the Health Department inaugurated the lab today. Libang said that it was the combined effort by the Health department and the State government which resulted in successful installation of the COVID-19 testing lab in TRIHMS.
"We are also planning to install two more testing lab in Naharlagun and in Pasighat. Once these labs are installed, it can collect and test the samples around two hundred per day," he said while adding that the lab will also provide services to the nearby district of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
He also informed that the Health department is working on the construction of COVID-19 hospital at Midhpu. People can visit TRIHMS for normal check-ups as the OPD remains open for it, he added. Meanwhile, the nodal officer of State COVID-19 lab, Dr Mika Umpo said that there are four diagnostic protocols for COVID-19 in the State.
