Some of the rare species spotted during the meet includes, White Dragontail, Veined Jay, Bispot, Black Prince, Large Yeoman, Tiger Hopper, Red Base, Jezebel, Grey Pansy and Chocolate Tiger.
The meet organised by NGO NgunuZiro, came up with a set of recommendations, including submission of proposals to the government for declaration of Kaiser-e-Hind as the State butterfly and the Talle Wildlife Sanctuary as a Butterfly Sanctuary, a press release informed here on Tuesday. Divisional Forest Offier (DFO) Koj Rinya speaking at the Valedictory function said that whole of Lower Subansiri district could be developed as a butterfly hub. She welcomed all to visit Talle Wildlife Sanctuary where some of the rarest butterflies in the world are found. ‘Butterfly Man of India’ Isaac Kehimkar gave a power-point presentation highlighting the importance of butterflies in the ecosystem and advocated for seeking funds from various corporates under CSR for butterfly conservation.
