25 new cases push Arunachal Pradesh Covid-19 tally to 64,648

ITANAGAR: The Covid-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 64,648 after 25 more people were infected with the virus, a senior health official said here on Saturday.

The active cases in the state increased to 125 he said.

The northeastern state which remained virus-free for the last couple of months witnessed a sudden surge in Covid-19 cases since July 1, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Among the fresh cases, 11 were reported from Namsai district, followed by Lohit (6), two each from Lower Dibang Valley, West Kameng and Changlang while, one case each was also reported from Lower Subansiri and West Siang district respectively, the official said.

As many as 64,227 people have recuperated from the disease thus far in the state including, one on Friday.

The Covid death toll in the state remained unchanged at 296 as no fresh fatality was registered in the past 24 hours, the SSO said.

The recovery rate among the Covid-19 patients stands at 99.35 per cent, while the active ratio stood at 0.19 per cent, Dr Jampa said.

Lohit district has the highest number of active cases at 56, followed by West Kameng at 19, Namsai (16), Papumpare (15), Lower Dibang Valley (7), Changlang (2) and one each from West Siang, Siang, Lower Subansiri and East Siang respectively.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has six active cases.

A total of 12,76,975 samples have been tested for coronavirus in the state so far including, 137 on Friday, Jampa added.
