ITANAGAR: With a theme ‘To Protect, Preserve and Promote the vanishing folk culture of Arunachal’, the ‘Ejing Dudak Musical Band’ (EDMB) is all set to organize the second edition of Arunachal Music Festival (AMF) here. The festival will commence from January 29 and continue up to February 2 next year.
Addressing media persons at the Press Club, AMF Chairperson Toko Yalam informed, "The sole motive of the festival is to encourage local artistes and preserve the age-old folklore of Arunachal. She further added that this year the committee is also inviting various folk artistes from all the north-eastern States to perform in the festival. “We appeal to the people of Arunachal to come and visit the festival to encourage the folk artistes and preserve our age-old tradition," added Yalam.
Event director-AMF, Tai Togung informed that besides performances by various folk artistes, the occasion would also feature an inter-college folk song competition, traditional sports like bull ride, archery, and cock fight among others. "Moreover, we are also organizing a panel discussion on the protection and preservation of folklore, added Togung.
