ITANAGAR: The swab samples of thirty one persons out of total 61 from Arunachal Pradesh, who travelled with the COVID-19 positive man from Delhi in two buses, tested negative while results of 26 are awaited and test of three persons are yet to be conducted, a senior health official said here on Monday.

All the 61 passengers who reached the state on May 18 last by two buses from Delhi covering travelling through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam are not showing any symptoms till date, State Nodal Officer for COVID-19, Lobsang Jampa informed.

A fresh case of coronavirus was reported in the state on Sunday after the state was declared Covid-19 free over a month ago.

The 30-year-old student, who used to live in West Patel Nagar area of Delhi, returned to the state on a bus on May 18, Health Secretary P Parthiban said.

He was in Delhi to prepare for UPSC civil services examination.

He boarded the bus at Gole Market area and it travelled through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Assam.

There were 31 others in the bus along with the student, while another 29 came in another bus, the officer said.

The patient has been kept at a Dedicated Covid Care Centre (DCCC) as per Standard Operating Procedure, the health secretary informed.

Arunachal was declared COVID-19 free after the state's lone patient recovered and was discharged from hospital on April 17.

The 31-year-old man was from Medo area in Lohit district and had attended a religious congregation at Nizamuddin in Delhi in March. He reached Medo on March 18 and tested positive on April 2. He was kept in Tezu Zonal Hospital in an isolation ward.

As on date a total of 5428 swab samples were tested out of which 4557 came out negative while results of 871 are awaited.
