455 new Covid cases reported in Arunachal Pradesh

The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 61,247 after 455 more people tested positive for the infection on Friday, 261 more than the previous day, a senior Health Department official said here.

ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 tally in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 61,247 after 455 more people tested positive for the infection on Friday, 261 more than the previous day, a senior Health Department official said here. The State had recorded 194 cases on Thursday, the official said. The death toll in the State increased to 285 with one woman succumbing to the infection at a health facility here.

The 60-year-old lady died due to cardio-respiratory arrest with COVID Pneumonia, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Among others, the 455 new cases included 142 in the Capital Complex Region, 33 in Lohit district, 31 in East Siang, 27 each in Lower Subansiri and Lepa Rada, and 26 in East Kameng district, the official said. Altogether 57,630 people have recuperated from the disease, including 431 on Thursday, the SSO said, adding that the recovery rate in the state stood at 94.09 per cent. Arunachal Pradesh currently has 3,332 active cases.

The Capital Complex Region, comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 1,412, followed by West Kameng at 208, Lower Subansiri at 185, Lower Dibang Valley at 167, Papumpare at 164 and Lohit at 153 cases.

A total of 12,33,348 samples have been tested in the State, including 2,062 on Thursday, the official said, adding that the positivity rate clocked 22.06 per cent.

According to State Immunization Officer Dr Dimong Padung, as many as 15,70,857 people have been inoculated with anti-COVID vaccine thus far.

As many as 46,427 beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated with the first dose and 14,935 senior citizens received the booster jab.
