ITANAGAR: The COVID-19 caseload in Arunachal Pradesh rose to 64,466 on Sunday after five more persons tested positive for the infection, two more than the previous day, a senior Health Department official said here.
As many as 64,097 people recuperated from the disease thus far in the State, including five on Saturday, the official said.
The death toll in the northeastern state remained at 296, as no casualty was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
Among the fresh cases, two were reported from Upper Siang and one each from West Kameng, Lohit and the Capital Complex Region, the official said.
The recovery rate remained at 99.43 per cent, he said. Arunachal Pradesh currently has 73 active COVID-19 cases.
All the fresh cases were detected through rapid antigen tests, Jampa said, adding that three patients have developed COVID-19 symptoms.
The Capital Complex Region comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas, has the highest number of active cases at 22, followed by Tawang at 12, Upper Siang and East Siang at six cases each and Lower Subansiri at 5 cases, the SSO said.
A total of 12,64,912 samples have been tested for the infection in the State so far, including 303 on Saturday, Jampa said, adding that the positivity rate increased to 1.65 per cent from 1.44 per cent, the previous day.
State Immunization Officer (SIO) Dr Dimong Padung said that over 16,42,226 people have been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines so far.
At least 83,111 beneficiaries in the age group of 15-18 years have been vaccinated with the first and second doses while, 23,441 senior citizens received the booster jab.
