AAP eyes to contest in 60 assemblies, two Lok Sabha seats in 2024

He further assured that the party would resolve the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) fiasco within six months and abolish the Arunachal Pradesh State Service Selection Board to eradicate corrupt practises.

ITANAGAR: With Assembly polls due next year in Arunachal Pradesh, the state unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed its desire to field candidates in all 60 assembly constituencies, besides two Lok Sabha seats. Announcing this during a press conference here on Saturday, AAP state unit general secretary Toko Nikam said that the party is committed to providing free water, electricity, free medical facilities up to Rs 10 lakh, and world-class education if they secure a majority in the 2024 Assembly election. Nikam said that if elected to power, the AAP would repeal the controversial Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 2014 and the Arunachal Pradesh District Based Entrepreneurs and Professionals (Incentives, Development, and Promotional) Rules of 2015. Respecting the freedom of religion, Nikam said that the party would repeal the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act of 1978. He further assured that the party would resolve the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) fiasco within six months and abolish the Arunachal Pradesh State Service Selection Board to eradicate corrupt practises.

"The party will also erect a Statue of Honesty in honour of Gyamar Padang, the whistleblower in the APPSC paper leakage case," he added. Nikam emphasised that the party's priorities include constructing a world-class city road in the Capital Region, implementing a blanket ban on out-of-turn promotions in various departments, and ensuring all-weather road connectivity to district headquarters. The AAP also aims to establish a fully functioning Lokayukta in the state, provide world-class medical facilities at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), regularize casual labourers and ALCs (Auxiliary Labour Corps) serving in various departments for the last 12 to 20 years and above, enhance wages for gaon burahs, and construct village council courts in accordance with the Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945. The party also plans to create the 3rd and 4th Arunachal Pradesh Armed Police Battalions to generate employment opportunities for the youth, scrap the National Pension Schemes, and restore the Old Pension Scheme. When asked about the financial burden associated with the promises, Nikam assured that the party would create policies to judiciously use the funds provided by the central government and the share of the state tax.
