ITANAGAR: The ‘Youth Mission for Clean River’ (YMCR) has submitted a memorandum to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary seeking measures to tackle the depleting natural streams and combat river pollution in the Capital complex region in particular and the State as a whole. YMCR chairman SD Loda further requested the CS to constitute a committee to collect the status of the natural streams and rivers across the Capital city and take appropriate steps for the protection of natural streams and rivers.
YMCR chairman in the memorandum stated that to beat the increasing river pollution and to save the depleting streams, the Forum voluntarily, with their own expenses is spearheading a Statewide public awareness campaign with the theme “Clean River Mission”.
Informing that rivers Senki, Pachin, and Dikrong which are the lifelines of the denizens of the Capital city, are now highly polluted and the river water is becoming unfit for human consumption besides posing serious threat to aquatic life, said Loda adding that the volume of this rivers are decreasing day by day.
