All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union calls 12-day lockdown in Pasighat

ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) along with the All East Siang District Students Union (AESDSU), the district indigenous COVID-19 warriors and community-based organization and NGOs have called for a 12- day lockdown in the territorial limits of Pasighat municipal area.

The union said that the lockdown will commence from June 19 to June 30 next. Addressing the media persons at the press club on Wednesday , AAPSU vice president (Admin), Meje Taku said that the decision for 12 days lockdown was acknowledged today in a meeting with the various organizations of the East Siang district. He said that the decision was necessary as two frontline workers from Pasighat were reportedly tested positive. There is a high possibility of community transmission, therefore we request the district administration and the frontline workers to immediately conduct contact tracing. "The lockdown has been enforced to ease the frontline workers to speed up contact tracing and contain the probable spread of pandemic," he said, adding that the lockdown will not have any impact to the frontline workers.
