ITANAGAR: The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Wednesday submitted a complaint to the Chief Secretary alleging that the Lower Subansiri district Deputy Commissioner (DC) Swetika Sachan instigated communal clash between the Nyishi and the Apatani communities in the district.

ANYA said, in a press statement, that the DC intentionally issued and granted permission to the 'Team Environment Protection Committee Apatani' (TEPCA) to organize a rally on the same day that a 12-hour bandh was called by the Lower Subansiri district unit of ANYA and the 'All Yachuli Students' Union' (AYSU).

"The DC has ignited communal clashes between the Nyishi and the Apatani communities by granting the permission order just a day before the bandh call," ANYA alleged. The ANYA has requested the Chief Secretary to take appropriate action against the DC.

Earlier, the Lower Subansiri district unit of ANYA and AYSU had announced a 12-hour Lower Subansiri district bandh call on September 21, 2020 demanding that the Circle office of the Superintending Engineer (RWD) be shifted from Ziro to Yachuli.

The associations demanded the office shifting in accordance to the Nyishi-Apatani Submit (NAS)-2015 resolution adopted by the two communities of the district to expand infrastructure development to the Yachuli area and also for equitable growth and development of the region.
