ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has criticized the BJP government in the state for neglecting connectivity, infrastructure development and exhibiting irresponsibility towards the priorities and attention that the people of the entire Siang, West Siang and Shi Yomi districts requires at the moment.

It demanded the state government to speed up construction of concaved highway and the 10 km track between Pasighat-Panging and Aalo.

"The hardship of not only few commuters but the people of the three districts is subjected to terrible surface communication since the month of June this year when Pasighat-Pangin and Aalo highway has been cut off after the 80-metre portion of the road was washed away," said the party. "The damage is massive. The local inhabitants of the districts tried connecting themselves by constructing bamboo bridge to overcome isolation but how long it could serve the purpose and eventually it broke away as it was hit by boulders and falling rocks," the party said in a statement here.

The APCC added that the contingency 10 km one way dirt track surfaced by locals for communication has numerous potential threats and danger due to uneven technical assistance.

There is total block in regular smooth movement of fuel truck, ration and supply of essential commodities severely affecting peoples live in the districts, the party alleged.

"The movement of light vehicles is also forceful and often hampered by persistence mudslides as there is no emergency or rapid crisis assistance," the APCC alleged. The state government could have given rapid response and critical repair of washed out highway or a temporary technical extension to the said track but it is disappointing to learn that it has been seven months the government is yet to initiated survey and damage assessment," the party alleged.
