ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) submitted a memorandum to the President of India, Ramnath Kovind, opposing the new farm Bills and demanding the incorporation of sections and clauses to protect the interests of farmers as a whole. This was informed by APCC vice president Bosiram Siram.

Stating that "the farmers of the country are aware they are not protected under the Bills and also that the new legislations will benefit the private Corporate sector. That is the reason there is huge protests against the Bills."

He further said, "There should be changes in the clauses of the Bills to protect the rights of the farmer and to avoid the black marketing of farmers' goods." He added, "There is always an option in Indian democracy to "refill or rectify" the weak laws in the interest of the public."

Earlier, APCC president Nabam Tuki had also announced a slew of activities in protest of the new agricultural Bills which include the online campaign — 'Speak Up for Farmers' — across the country from September 26, a mass signature campaign from October 2 to 31, and observing October 2 as the 'Kisan Majdoor Bachao Diwas'.

While expressing its solidarity with the farmers, who are in protest against the new agricultural bills, the APCC said that it will stand by the farmers till the government incorporates "clauses or sections" that protect the interests of the famers. APCC termed the three Bills as "anti-farmer" and "unjust" – just a day after the State BJP unit welcomed the same legislations as "revolutionary Bills".
